HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE?
The Guiding Light Foundation is a 501(c)3 eligible donation under the "umbrella"
of The Virginia Organizing Project (VOP). The VOP "incubates" grass-roots
non-profits by providing an instrument through which fledging non-profits which
fit within the VOP's Mission Statement may solicit donations from individuals,
private foundations, and corporations . Their umbrella also allows
their "project non-profits" to apply for governmental grants.
Due to the nature of accounting practices and strict guidelines developed by the
IRS, any donations made to The Guiding Light Foundation MUST be made out to "VOP"
with "for The Guiding Light Foundation" in the memo field of the check.
Both VOP and The Guiding Light will send thank you notes to anyone donating.
For tax purposes, the VOP will send donors the applicable paperwork so that you
may itemize and write-off the allowable percentage of your kind donation to the
extent of the law.
